it's truly a breath of fresh air. I've seen so many patients who have joined other gyms and end up getting injured. Once you take a class at SISU, you'll never look back and will immediately see just how different they are. Their programming is methodical and not randomly thrown together like most gyms. This leads to not only improved results but will also decrease your risk of injury. It's a community working towards the goal of becoming stronger both physically and mentally. Since they opened 4 years ago, my purpose for showing up every morning has varied depending on what was going in my life. No matter if I was there to recover from a surgery or injury, meet a specific strength or conditioning goal or just for the support of friends, the trainers and members have always had my back. Jeff and Nick create the perfect mix of conditioning and strength training in a competitive atmosphere. Prior to joining I had never lifted more than a 20lb dumbbell and now at the age of 50, I can throw an 80lb ball over my shoulder. This is how I felt after college.\n\nSince I was young, running was something I was passionate about, and something I competed in both at the high school and college level.  For many years my focus was on distance and speed.  Living a healthy lifestyle is important to me, but after graduating college, I wasn't sure where to turn.  I loved to run, but was looking for that \"team\" feel I had for so many years.\n\nSISU Strength Academy quickly filled that void.  After my first week, I was hooked!\n\nBeing an athlete my whole life I always thought I was \"in shape\", but SISU tests you both mentally and physically in so many ways.  I am a proud member that has been with SISU since the beginning.  The daily mental tests, nutrition advice, and positive team atmosphere is what I'm excited to start my day with each morning.\n\nThrough all my years of athletics, this is the strongest I have even been.  Never did I imagine I would be lifting twice my body weight!  Each class brings opportunity to be better than you were the day before.  The coaches take the time to help us understand why we are doing what we are doing, and truly care about seeing members reach their full potential.\n\nDon't let fear stop you from trying something that I know you will love. 370lbs.\n\nIn June of 2020, after making significant progress on my own, I knew I had reached a point in my journey where I needed to find the people, environment, and support that were going to help me reach my goals, and also challenge me to not only do my best, but BE my best.\n\nStepping foot into a gym after being morbidly obese for over half of your life is hard, scary, embarrasing and miles short. Before coming to Sisu I felt very satisfied with my workout routine and didn't think I needed a change. I decided to try it out for a 12-week cycle and I am completely sold. The coaches push each individual to go beyond what they've done in the past and look for new ways to improve, and they have a genuine interest in each person's goals. But what they do goes much further beyond setting goals and inciting motivation. They have made me want to strengthen my mindset in a way that will impact my life way beyond the gym. Sisu has taught me things that have changed the way I eat, the way I sleep, and the way I interact with the people in my life in a positive way.\n\nThe principles instilled by the coaches have spread throughout the gym and created a culture that someone would be crazy to not want to be apart of.
