“No matter how much it hurts, how dark it gets, or how hard you fall, you are never out of the fight.”
-Marcus Luttrell
Marcus Luttrell was deployed to Afghanistan in 2005 with Seal Team 10. While in Afghanistan, he was involved in Operation Red Wings, during which the four-man team was discovered by local herdsman. Subsequently, the team was ambushed and all were killed except Luttrell. He was left unconscious with several fractures, a broken back, and numerous shrapnel wounds. Luttrell persevered through this grim time. He has since created a foundation – Team Never Quit. Team Never Quit embodies the heart of a warrior, men and women in all walks of life who have faced incredible hardship but have chosen not only to persevere, but to learn from the experience and make themselves and those around them stronger for it.
Some of you may be saying, how does this relate to me? The one thing that we can all relate to is – perseverance. The definition of perseverance is: continued effort to do or achieve something despite difficulties, failure, or opposition. Every day we are all faced with some sort of adversity or hardship. When you face adversity, what are you going to do? Will you push yourself to the next level? When you are backed up against the wall with adversity facing you in the face and success is against all odds, I want you to remember the quote from Marcus Luttrell – “No matter how much it hurts, how dark it gets, or how hard you fall, you are never out of the fight.”
The reason I selected perseverance to talk about is, because it is one of the nine virtues that we embody at Sisu Strength Academy. It is something that not only applies in the gym, but everyday life. We want all clients to succeed and obtain undeniable results. At end of the day, always remind yourself that failure is acceptable along the way of your journey, but quitting is not.
