“When You Get in Your Head, You’re Dead” 01.18.22

You make your life hard by always being in your head.

Overthinking is a real thing, and a dangerous one at that.

I’ve come across a number of examples of overthinking, a good one being this kid was freaking out because he thought he was going to drown. He was hanging onto this rope for dear life, splashing everywhere, crying and consumed with fear. His dad came over and pushed his feet to the bottom of the pool that was 2 feet deep. The kid stood up, realized he made a fuss over nothing, immediately stopped crying and all was right again.

If we do in fact have 2000-3000 thoughts/hour, that’s a lot of opportunities for letting those thoughts get the best of you. If you spend time dwelling on your past, that’s a recipe for depression. Just the opposite, if you spend it on the future, a recipe for anxiety. (Don’t quote me on this, I’m no mental health expert.)

Life is simple, get out of your head and get into the moment.

Because 99% of the things were overthink about never happen.
