Feeling uncomfortable? Good. I put a quote on my IG stories last week that really hit and I want to expand. It read, “Anyone who isn’t embarrassed of who they were last year probably isn’t learning enough.” -Alain De Botton
Oooof. Okay. Do you know why dealing with issues can be so hard for many? Because it requires a certain individual to take accountability and responsibility for their own internal issues.
That is, being able to look at your own actions, words and thoughts and truly trying to understand how you behave and why, as well as how your actions and behaviors affect others.
It’s not fun to look at your shit and unpack it so you can learn from it and make changes. But it’s everything.
Many of us have been doing the work for years, and many of us are just starting and many may not be ready. No matter what stage you are in, the work is required.
And the ones who are not “ready” to unpack, are the ones not yet willing to look at themselves for the very subconscious fear that they may not like what they see…
All things considered, no person ever really “likes” all that they see when they do the work on themselves. Myself included… but I believe it’s necessary.
We also need to give ourselves grace in the process. That is, while we may not always like what we see, we have to give ourselves credit for doing the work and being kind to ourselves.
If every person was committed to their own growth, this world would operate entirely different. Doing the work is uncomfortable but the outcomes are unbelievably transformative. This applies to ALL avenues of your life- remember this as you step into your training sessions this week as well. We have to continue to get uncomfortable… it’s really the only way. See you all Thursday ✊🏽💪🏽
